Integrated Marketing

What is Integrated Marketing?

Well, the text-book version or Wikipedia version is as follows;  a process for managing customer relationships that drive brand value primarily through communication efforts.  Such efforts often include cross-functional processes that create and nourish profitable relationships with customers and other stakeholders by strategically controlling or influencing all messages sent to these groups and encouraging data-driven, purposeful dialog with them. This includes the coordination and integration of all marketing communication tools, avenues, and sources within a company into a seamless program in order to maximize the impact on end users at a minimal cost.  This affects all firm’s business-to-business, marketing channel, customer-focused, and internally directed communications.

What does that mean in Today’s World?

In today’s world, What is Integrated Marketing refers to where your business’ marketing strategy needs implemented, throughout various communication channels, typically through electronic means (Online, Social Media, Direct Marketing, etc.), to have a possible marketing impact.

Today’s businesses not only just need to:

Have a website or,

Have an SEO / Search Engine Marketing Strategy or,

Have a presence on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, Linked In,  etc, or

Have a blog, forum, etc, or

Have promotions through Groupon, Living Social, Yelp, etc, or

Have a direct email marketing campaign, or

or just be a part of the various other “Social Media” sites,

but rather they need to employ most, or all of the above to have a clear Integrated Marketing strategy  for how they are going to positively appear and interact on all of those various sites.  The real key to understanding What is Integrated Marketing is not so much what it is, but rather what it can do for your business and what type of presence your business must have in today’s marketplace to be successful online.
